Hi everyone,

my fuel line has started leaking diesel all over, can I replace my fuel line with 5/16 copper tube? If not what are the advantages and disadvantages of the alternatives

thanks

John

Do not use copper tube. It w

Do not use copper tube. It will corrode through in no time at all with all the salt put down on the roads in winter. It also does not have the tensile strength that steel has. Also, if you're in the UK I don't think it will pass the MOT with copper fuel lines.

Fuel pipes

Mmmn surely then all the copper brake pipe kits you can buy would do the same.
I seem to remember a large amount of 80's fords had plastic piping running the length of the car, they had no trouble passing the MOT.
I have used copper pipe a few times for re running fuel lines & never had any problem.
A large amount of HGV's use plastic/nylon for all their fuel lines.

leaky fuel pipes

I have a 91 sporty and a short section of the fuel lines started to leak. I had them cut out and replaced with rubber fuel pipe. Did the job and not had any bother since.

Leaking fuel pipes

I've got a 1984 F75 and had to replace the rubber fuel hoses a few years ago - I guess the TD is no different. If it is only the fuel hoses and the set up is the same as the F75 then you need to drop the fuel tank and access the hoses inside the right hand rear quarter panel. I used generic hose from the local auto parts store and replaced all the hoses for a few dollars (Aust).

I replaced mine also and foun

I replaced mine also and found the hard nylon no trouble used it on other vehilces in the past never needed changing again
