Forum:
Firstly since i'm new ill stand at the front of class and introduce myself.
Hi there,
My name is Mark and i'm a 1994 Sportrak owner (sheepish little wave)
As the subject says i have a Squeek!
ive narrowed it down to one of the belts! lol.
No i'm pretty sure its the belt with Fan and alternator on! Gets worse when i load the alternator (Hit the twin 130W rally lamps)
It Squeeks on start up and for a few mins if left ticking, but stops quicker if i get it in gear and get moving.
To the question!
The powersteering belt has a tension ajuster on it, easy to see, easy to get at... can't seem to find one for the alternator belt. i assume there is one and im not looking in the right place could someone give me a little advice?
The belt is in good condition relativly new it just seems a little on the slack side, considering the steering belt is pretty taught!
I'm pretty capable with the tool set, and pretty handy, just not an engine buff! (dunno what a torque wrench is for though... just make sure its tight, lol)
Adjusting tension
The way I adjust the tension is by loosening the 14mm bolt on top of the alternator, get a long bar, and tap the bolt along and then re-tighten it.
Its the only way I can see of adjusting it, and it only takes a couple of minutes.
Cheers dude
Job done, not a mouse in the house on startup now!
Thanks to sportrakwiltshire and ozzman for the help

If its not broken, Fix it.
If its broken, Hit it.
If its still broken, Hit it some more then get a new one!
