Forum:
I have recently purchased another Sportrak, this time a Riviera P reg. Body/interior is in excellent condition and it has covered 97000 miles with a little service history.
The problem I am having is that it will not pass the mot emisions test at fast idle. I have replaced all the leads, distributor cap and rotar arm and fitted new spark plugs. The garage that is helping me is stuck and they suggest the next area to look at is replacing the cat and sensor and have quoted me £500 plus for both parts. Having checked on the internet I can see cat's and sensor's for Sportrak's up to 92/93 but nothing later and both parts would cost me about £100 !!!.
My question is has anybody experienced similar probs and how did they sort them and secondly apart from phoning tomorrow but does anybody think the 92/93 parts will fit the later model.
I am first to admit "a little bit of lnowledge is " but any help would be very very much appreciated.
poor emissions
hi,
recently my L plater decided not to pass mot test due to emissions, i had recently done the head gasket on it and it was still running slightly on the rich side,,,,, any way, i removed the lambda sensor and it was coked up, ... not wantting to mess around i went to my local parts supplier and purchased a new one for £35 inc vat, fitted in to place, took for a drive to allow the ecu to sort its self out and passed with flying colours.
i too was slihtly worried about cat on exhaust but thankfully is want to be,,,
i would try that first. its the cheeper option.

thanks for your comments I will phone a company in Hull, Lambda Only, tomorrow morning and ask them to post me one up. I hope that that will do the trick.
Thanks for your help and I will let you know how I get on with it. Their price is about the same as you paid for you sensor.
