Where to go off road??

Forum:

Thought it would be an idea for people to tell us where they go and what they think of it!
Anywhere in UK would be good, would like to make a guide! but am also looking for places near to nottingham for myself as well as i cant find any good areas.

Connecting Woolsthorpe Lane With Sewstem Lane, off A52 by Sedgbrook. Approx 2-3 miles Nottingham side of Grantham
Its a small track about 2 miles long, an old farm track that the Land rover club use quite regularly.
Its nothing overly exciting more of just a track to get you in the mood, so dont head off on an experdition to get there!
If your passing it just makes a little change, gives you a reminder why you own a 4x4.
There are a few tight corners and some gentle to mild rutting on the track, no slopes or big splashes, an area under close cover
from trees and bushes, pretty muddy but your not going to get bogged down! It may get a little more interesting if there has been an exceptionally heavy rainfall.

Marks 1-10
Mud = 1-2
Water = 1
Slopes = 0
Overall = 2 (just a little tester, to check 4x4 still works!)

Maplink below,
From the arrow follow woolsthorpe lane down and round the rightangle corner. continue allong until you get to a lay-by on the left (right before the canal on the map)
and opposite that is a hard core track heading parralel to the canal. if youi head up the slope and over aa twin canal bridge on a weird dog leg youve gopne too far.
Alternativly heading off the A52, its on Sewstem Lane, there is no road sign byt there is a sign for Mill Farm head down this lane right to the bottom, there will be the farm on your right and straight ahead is a track leading off on a grassed area, thats it.
oh, one last thing, its not shown on the map typical! so dont head all the way over to the other connecting road that is! you'll be dissapointed thats just a plain road.

bofa4x4.com offroading in Cannock Chase, West Midlands (£55 per car, unlimited drivers)

Mud = 8 (Totally caked up my Sporty, got stuck once or twice)
Water = 7 (Mostly dry dependant on season, but because it has a couple of really deep troughs of water, up to 5ft deep in some places, I'm giving it a 7)
Slopes = 8 (Some steep up/down slopes, quite challenging)
Overall = 8 (Lots and lots of fun!)

Not really found any other places to offroad, no greenlanes or anything in Birmingham as far as I know.
