Avanzato TRXXR4

Forum:

Just saying Hi, we already own a Charade GLXi and we are thinking of buying a '98 TRXXR4 that was used in the Challenge Cup, in OK condition and 5K on the clock, mileage that I know is genuine. Nearly all of the last seven years has been in storage and I just wondered if anyone knew the value of this vehicle? It was originally prepared by Harry Hockley Motor Sport, I have spoken to them and they couldn't help with the price, but expressed real concern over the availability of spare parts for these cars.
Any comments would be appreciated.........Al

avanzato rally cars

Hi there they are great wee rally cars but they are getting a bit long in the tooth now.

Most spares are OK as long as you can find a dealer willing to try hard. Watch out with the rally cars though their vin number doesnt register on Daihatsu parts database so you have to use the vin of a UK original road car I can help with that if you need.

If the gear box goes or some engine bits you are in trouble. (transfer box was a weakness some reported) Your best bet is to try and buy a second car for spares or at least a engine gearbox and back axle.

Other thing to watch on the original rally cars was lack of underseal rust might be an issue if the storage wasnt very dry.

As for value, there have been four rally cars on ebay recently, none of them have made their reserves which have been in the low two thousands if you are thinking on paying over three grand I'll sell you mine complete with spare engine gearbox and back axle.

Having said all that they are huge fun and I found them a very reliable and economical way to go rallying.

cheers
