Problems after Engine swap

Forum:

Hi there,
I have now swapped an 1986 turbo engine DL50 into my 1985 F75 Rocky and I have a few problems that I cannot solve easely. Engine runs fine and gearbox is great and everything went smoth thanks to a combination of my old 1984 service manual together with the great 1994 service manual sold by LuRcH.
1. The Tachometer is only working when 4WD is engaged ????
2. FW lamp is not glowing when 4WD is engaged.
3. The turbo switch semes to work this way. When turbo is NOT on 12V is present and when turbo starts it goes to 0 volts.
I have problems finding the informations in my manuals.

Id say you have got some wire

Id say you have got some wires crossed. The tacho recieves its signal from the fuel pump, I think. The 4wd indicator light gets signal from the transfer case. Both these wires come together, along with a few others, just to the left of the motor, on the firewall. Check you have the correct wires connected. There may be different connectors on the different componants. You may, alternatively, have a busted wire from the 4wd switch.

Wires crossed

Hi there,
You were right, two wires were crossed on the wiring comming from the engine. Why would they do that moving from a 1985 to an 1986, I do not know.
Thanks for the hint.
