Spot lamps not working can anyone help

Forum:

Hi guys the four spots on my 91 sporty are not working and I'm no engineer so if anyone could help it would be great. The problem is the bulbs are ok i've checked, there is a switch I presume for the spots just under the 3 stage damper switch ive had the back of and the paddles seem ok, and when i turn my side lights on the main beam glows dimly so I take it from the forums I have a dim dip relay. The trouble is I dont know how to check the fuses i.e the fuse to check,or even what a dim dip relay looks like or where it is! please help

your lights

if your head lights dim when you put your spots on then they are not on there own siwch. they are wired in to the head lights so trace the wires from the spots to where they join the head light wries and put it on its own swich Smile

spots

ar the spots wired up to a rely av had this prob with mine when i went through a river to fast. you should hear it click when you switch them on hope this helps

The dim dip relay is usually

The dim dip relay is usually hiding in the left hand side of the passenger footwell. snugeled underthe dash. It usually has dim dip writen on it. If not it's a black box (normally) with a thick bundel of wires going into the top.
If your spots are opperated via a relay of their own (which they should be as the amount of current they'd drage will melt most switches) the relay itself often has a fuse mounted on it, or inline leading to it. Alternativly the relay itself could be coroded, and seased.

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.
