Fourtrak unladen weight

Forum:

Hi all.
what is the the uladen weight of a '91 Fourtrak TDX 2.8, if I am reading the underbonnet plate right it states 2085kg,is this correct.

Our local traffic mullahs have posted a notice on all local carparks
which states a max unladen weight of 1525kg.

Sounds about right. My

Sounds about right. My Indipendent waighed in at about the 2 Tonn mark.

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

Weight Limit

I had a conversation with a Senior Traffic Warden on duty in our local car park, re this weight limit, it is correct but they have been told NOT to implement it YET, as they are awaiting new personal computers, which will carry all data re- unladen weights. As of the moment he imformed me that the wardens were to use discretion on ticketing over weight vehicles.

I did point out we are in a rural area, and at that time, we both
could see, and he agreed that the majority of vehicles, would fail to
meet the weight limit, and he did say (do not quote me) , it would be
a public relations disaster, and would have a detrimental effect on
local shopping.

Weights

Yep that is correct and very typical of Local Authorities pushing people out of 4x4's by narrow mindedly making them inconvenient. 2 ton will do little more damage than the 1.5ton limit and it is just beareaucratic bollXXks and yet another typical move by a brain washed Authority. Mind you, 2 ton will knock out Prescotts Jags as well.

Thank god in France we have no such stupidty and no parking fees in most places plus NO ROAD TAX.

Weighty Issues

Many family saloons are precluded due to these weight limits, these include Mondeo, Avensis, Vectra, and many other vehicles such as MPV's.
Legislation exists to prevent descrimination of vehicular types unless there is a good reason to do so, if you are challenged by the authorities, or given a ticket, the answer is simple.

Wait until they use vehicles in the area for such purposes of maintenance or repair, take several photographs, and ensure the numberplates are clearly visible, challenge them to prove there is a reason why there is a weight restriction; then ask why they flount their own laws.

weight limits

What annoys me is, you pay your road tax, inflated as it is, you pay your Community charge which along with your personnal taxation pays for Public Car Parks and then you are charged for the pleasure of using something that in theory you own. Now you are being prevented from even doing that. Are they going to reduce community charge for owners of over weight vehicles, are they hell as like.
