A few months ago my car was stalling when i changed gear the rev counter just dropped right down and it conked out, i called RAC and they clean out a few things, including the idle valve which made the car better, a few days later my Rev counter pin started junping up and down when in neutral and its still doing it now, some times it runs fine with no problems but then maybe 5 minutes later the rev counter starts bobbing up and down and the car shakes, we replaced the air filter and cleaned out some tubes which where gunked up with a thick whiteish dirt (dunno what it was) and the air filter compartment had like a runny mixture of dirt oil and water, after cleaning all this out it was alright for a day, and none of the dirt has come back, so hopfully that problem has been sorted out, but still the car is struggling to stay at the normal idle speed, what will the problem be? the idle valve? how do we clean this, if this is the problem? i also noticed a really high pitched noise coming from the engine while running, but my dad cant hear it (going a bit deaf hehe) and i know this noise wasnt there a few months back could this be to do with the same problem. any advice would be grately appreciated, as im hoping to sort it out without paying for the dealers to just look at it because they charge £40 an hour, and i cant afford that much at the minute. if anyone needs anymore information just ask because i may have missed a few things...sorry fot it being veryyyy longggg. thanks gem

Oh i forgot...i knew i would, could it be a fuel problem aswell..what would be the most likley that or the idle valve...or even something totaly different.. thanks x
