Sportrak Rear Leaf Springs

Forum:

Hi, I have a 1990 Sportrak 1.6 EL and wish to remove the Front Passenger seat, and wondered if you need to undo the bolts holding the bottom runner to the floor/seat base, or if you can remove the bolts in between the runners, which appear to stop the rollers sliding right out, if so do you remove the back ones or the front ones Unknw

Hi again, can anyone advise on a 2nd issue with a clonking at the rear suspension, possibly the drivers side, ie I noticed that the springs are different, and the off side one appears to have the bottom leaf detatched at the back end as if there is a clamp missing Unknw
I don't have a manual to check it, but i have took a few pictures with a digital camera !

But I don't know how to put the pics on here ! but if some one can help I could try and e-mail them 2 pics ie one d/s one n/s.

Thanks Des

Remain Seated

Unbolt the bolts which attatch the runners to the floor, the seat will come out complete.

As for the rear leaf springs, they should be identical, it may be that the clamp has broken, rusted, or been smashed while used off road, another possibility is that a previous owner has only replaced one spring.

Replace both springs, while you are at it, replace all the rear bushes with polyurethane ones, this should cure the clunking; when you change your engine oil, paint the leaves with this, ensure it penetrates the leaves, this will make them last a lot longer.
