Newbie, hi all

Forum:

Hiya all

I've been lurking for a while on the forums but have decided to take the plunge and join up.

I bought my first Daihatsu (1994 2.8 Rugger TDX) in August to use as a shooting motor. It is unmodded, save for a moveable lamp fitted into the sunroof. I have been running it on a veg oil mix (60/40) most of the time, and have yet to have a serious problem with it (save for the passenger and rear door handles breaking within 2 weeks of one another!). I absolutely love it, and enjoy the driving almost as much as the shooting. I have no real mechanical skill so I expect I will be bugging you all at some point or another with questions!

Cheers,

Zapp (Pete)

keep a spare fuel filter in

keep a spare fuel filter in mate if your running veg, good bus and strong as hell, crap reversing lights, and if orig the headlamps are poor especially on dip, no matter what bulbs you put in, if your headlamps have the central black shroud fitting the milner replacement makes one hell of an improvement, back door hinges are prone to going, easy to replace and if you check out the local scrapyard you may find a decent set,

Cheers for the advice mate.

Cheers for the advice mate. I'll have a look into the light shrouds, back door hinge already being a bugger, will head to the local scrappy.

Cheers

Rear door hinges

Hi
have you considered drilling them out slightly oversize and fitting a roll pin. 'assasin' made a post recently, re doing this to drivers door hinges.

Hi Newbie

Hiya Zapp, If you are the same one - I know you from the other forum (PW - AKA Pushkin)welcome to the site - I've only been here a few days ahead of you and already picked up some good advice.

Have fun

SB

Use search before you ask questions.

I'm quite happy to answer newbies' questions if my experience of owning a 1998 trak from new is relevant.

Many times the usual problems appear again and again, and are answered. To save asking the same thing twice, might I ask that people first do a search to attempt to solve their problem. It keeps the site tidier too.

Welcome to the fold

Hi.

Just replaced my headlights re- 'aobeert's post,(Milner's) a good improvement on the originals. I run 50/50 Rapeseed Oil all year round, just change your engine oil/ filter, fuel filter at the suggested intervals, but keep a spare fuel filter with you, as veg oil can loosen the debris in the fuel tank/lines, not had any probs re that my self though. Oh yes, crap reversing light, fit a replacement from any motor factors.
