Having just aquired a 99 1300 efi van I am surprised at the heavy effort needed to depress the accellerator pedal. It seems to be damped in the down direction but returns easily. Wierd and makes it very hard to drive smoothly. Is this a feature of these vehicles? I have never driven another so have nothing to compare it with.
I did think the cable might be at fault but that would be stiff in both directions surely.

I also own a 1999 Hijet and my accelerator cable is jerky, despite oiling and greasing. In your case it could well be some of the wires have snapped and are snagging inside the outer cable. This can happen more in one direction than the other. The only way you will know for certain is to remove the cable (a pretty easy job, but watch the steel clips under the front of the vehicle, they are often rusted and snap off!) HijetBear

Somehow it is smooth not jerky and sort of viscous feeling, having looked at it I think it may just be worn in the pedal assembly and am looking for a replacemrnt from a breaker. I think this vehicle will keep me from getting bored, every week a new issue arises. What fun! Peter
