:). I then thought it would be a piece of cake to install the 2003 CD player into my daughters 1999 Sirion which still had its original tape player. Silly me thought that because they both had the same plug and they both had the DAIHATSU name on the front that the wiring would be the same. Unfortunately, even with the key out, plugging in the CD player resulted in that awfully familiar snap crackle pop and the smell of burning components despite the fact that the plug was extracted in about 1 secondhttp://www.daihatsu-drivers.co.uk/misc/smileys/shocked.gif

Does anyone have a pinout for the 1999 tape player? (kenwood brand name on it inside)

My daughter was only visiting briefly so I couldn't spend time working it out.

Would the wire colours be the same on both models even though the pinout is different?

I was just glad that her tape/radio still worked OK so I didn't investigate any further.

Don't know yet if the CD player survived.......
