1992 Trak 2.8TD Now Sorted :0)

Forum:

Well, after almost 2/5 years I have brought another Fourtrak for the wife to use up the horse yard etc to save trashing the Audi..

I hae just picked up a 1992 Limited Edition Intercooled in very good all round condition.. I took a risk.. when I looked it over everything was fine, engine bay MINT :0).. drives 110%, stops in a straight line etc...

However at idle the engine seems to vibrate a lot.. I have checked the mounts etc and they all seem fine.. the vibration does not seem to go until about 1100/1200rpm... the only thing that is not standard is that the front prop shaft is not on (needs a new UJ), but the transfer box does not seem to be moving... any idea's?

Thanks and it feels great to be back.....

Cheers

It is not the timing

Hi all, when I got home from work I have quickly stripped the front end down and checked the timing... the timing is spot on (since I have a spare belt etc I did that whilst I was ther..

The next thing I guess is to put her back together again (tomorrow evening and check the valve clearance's.. but I can not believe no matter how far out the valves are it would make the engine shake like it does.

Oh, all the mounts etc are sweet.

Anyone have any ideas?
