fourtrack models

Forum:

hi all,
i'm a little confused what levels of spec particular models of fourtrack have. Which model is the top of the range model? What is the difference between the electronic 4wd selection on the TDX and the 4wd selection on the other models? Is it worth paying more to get the post 93 revised models with wider track, revised suspension and locking front hubs?
Cheers Matt.

Have a look at this page http://www.daihatsu-drivers.co.uk/?q=node/view/112 . As for whether the independet is better, what do you want? If you want a carrying heavy loads/towing vehicle, no stick with the F75 (though straping on an intercooler would be good). If however your 4x4 is primarily a car, yes the indipendent is well worth the extra money. That torsion-bar and coil spring set up is fan-tas-tic!!! There is no comparison on smoothnes of ride, and with the wider trak it even handels better.

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

Matt, As mentioned elsewhere

Matt,
As mentioned elsewhere, it depends what you want to do with it. The older models, with leaves and live axles all round are a better proposition to lift for better off roading. Raised suspension is possible to find for the leaves. The later independant/ torsion bar front end models are limited in the lift that is possible. The auto hubs seem to cause some problems with reliability and certainty of operation. These can be retrofitted with earlier manual hubs, I believe. Im not sure about the different spec models. The major difference in the earlier F75s was the dinky electronic shocks, (which dont seem to work, and cost a fortune to replace) and differing levels of trim/paint. A/C & P/S may have been options on the various models. Again, most parts are interchangable between the years, so P/S can be retrofitted, as would A/C Id say. The push button transfer case was standard on later model F75's, from about 1988 on.
Cheers
David

what condition/age tdi fourtr

what condition/age tdi fourtrack do you think i could get for 2.5k? was looking at spending around 4k but due to my first house i may need so free up some extra cash. Only models i have seen around my area for 2.5k are pre 1990 models looking a bit rough around the edges. Bit worried about maintenance costs on a 14+ year old car.
