Hi All, My new Independant has a turbo guage fitted (by the owner previous to the one I bought it from i think).
When I first got it it would go up to about 15 on the dial when really revving. However, my neighbour is a mechanic and was tightening the fan belt for me when he noticed a vacuum hose disconnected and re-connected it for me. He said he had no idea why it was disconnected and to be aware of any changes in the driving of it. The only thing I have noticed is the turbo guage now only goes up to 5ish when revving high! Anyone have any ideas what it is all about???
Wasted
Sounds possibly to be the wastegate connection, the wastegate is a pressure control valve which limits the turbochargers maximum pressure. Turbochargers generate more pressure than is required by the engine, and is limited, if the wastegate pipe is disconnected the turbo provides maximum boost to the engine. Providing too much boost pressure is effectively supplying too much air to the engine, and not enough fuel is provided for this amount of air. This causes combustion problems, in addition too much pressure may overstress the engine as it effectively raises the compression pressures, this, in time will cause other engine problems such as blown head gaskets, melted pistons, and the burning of lubricating oils.
5 psi is about right for these engines.

Thank you so much, I will keep it connected then for sure
