wots it worth

Forum:

hi,
can anybody give me a rough idea what a 1990-91 h reg 2.8 turbo diesel fourtrak, with a knackered turbo a dodgy fuel injecter pump and a good bit of welding on one rear wheel arch and where the wheel arch joins the floor pan is worth,
there about two months mot but that is niether here or there as it cant be run as it is.
have i been bit, i give £200 for it.

best regards,

chrisac.

Hi Chrisac
i dont think you have been bit for £200
spares or repair i would expect to pay around £500 to £600 on that year, anyway turbo, diesel pump and a bit welding are not major probs.
The turbo you could get recon or second hand if there are any 4x4 breakers where u are, the diesel pump u should be able to pick up second hand aswell. Then you just need a welder to patch up the wheel arch your local garage should be able to help unless u weld yourself even better.
This is summising that the chassis is in good nick, also depends how much you are willing to spend and what u going to use it for.
hope this helps.

best regards
Graham

cheers graham,,,,,youve made my day

i got it mainly because it has been parked up at a friends works for several months, he had had enough of it, i thought it would be a nice little chalenge, also it would make a great little work horse for getting me and my tools out to work (self employed sparks)also in the near future i want to show my wife" what 4x4s are realy for.
many of my wifes friends have 4x4s but they never see the rain... let alone mud up to the roof." ill get a lot of stick about this, but i think there should ge a law that states unless your job makes it nessecary for you to have a 4x4 or you are an off road user you shouldent have one".....ive seen the school runs in the mornings.
ps.... the chassis in in very good condition.....im not the worlds best welder, but its good enough to get through the test.

cheers,

chrisac.
