Which Model am I?

Forum:

Hi Guys

Bought myself a G reg (1989) petrol fourtrak EL at the weekend - I need to do a few things to it (first one is to work out how to adjust the clutch cable - is that possible??) anyway the service manuals on this site have model numbers like F70 etc - how do I work out which mine is?

Thanks

Look at the VIN plate.

I'm not sure about the earlier 'traks, but the VIN number goes like

JDA00F7300050xxxx

Guess what, mine's an F73.

model number

I run an 89 Sporty EL (it's great having a simple old carb!) and mines an F300, or at least, that's the manual I use and it all lines up.

So I'm guessing it's an F300, and yours is too. Oops, sorry, you said 4trak didn't you... I'll get me coat...

Petrol 4trak is F80 for a Short Wheel Base (SWB), of F85 from LWB. The LWB is the one with the plastic rear roof, that goes up from behind the cab area. The SWB has a full metal flat roof.

As for the clutch adjustment, that is the same for all traks. There is a clip around the clutch cable where it comes out of the bulkhead (not far from the breake master cylinder). This clip fits into one of a series of slots around the cable. Unclip it, pull the cable out of the bulkhead, and move the clip to a slot further 'back' to tighten the clutch cable. It's that simple.
