Forum:
I find it really difficult to open the fuel filler door on my Fourtrak Independent (L Reg). The key's pretty worn. Have tried WD40 to no avail. I end up on hands and knees in the petrol station despirately trying to get it unlocked. Any advice?
I'm very tempted to remove the lock completely and replace it with a padlock!
But hey, what would I know? I'm just a GURL!
Petrol Lock
Unfortunately the barrels in these tend to wear and corrode. The best thing would be to remove it, strip it down, grease the parts with PH Grease and reasseble or...replace it with one from a breaker. Try ebay but make sure it has a key.

Replaced several of these, agree with Oldminiman on stripping the original and giving it a good clean and grease first though.
Camlocks will fit, these are basically a lock which fits industrial machinery and electrical or control panel chambers. Simply place in to the hole and tighten the nut on the rear of the barrel, alternatively; look at different Japanese vehicles as many had the same type of lock fitted.
Fuel Filler cover lock
Hi.
Agree with 'assassin', similar lock are fited to many items like lockers for clothing/personal possesions, I think replacements can be found at DIY stores. open the the flap and i think the rotating tab can be removed with a cross point screwdriver, a locking nut holds the barrel in place, undo and you can remove the assembly, purchase a replacement ,refit job done. Never done this but just an idea/thoughts, as I had a similar problem with my ammo /bolt safe.(rifle)

Thnx for the suggestions.
Just got to get it open now so I can have a try. Oh, and I need to fill up so if you see anyone kneeling on a petrol station forecourt cursing at their Fourtrak, give them a wave, it's probably me!
but hey, what would I know? I'm just a Gurl!
