Hi All,
I have a 93 independant with a tatty bonet, this weekend i bought a second hand one.
The problem is it does not seem to fit, although i have tried pushing the bonnet up as far as i can and then tightining the bolts it keeps rubbing the bulk head.
Does any one know if there are different bonnets for different years?
Regards

I am very puzzeled by your post. They should all be the same. That said, are you sure you have got all the adjustment you can, I have found aligning bonnets can be a real headach, even when putting back the one you took off... Try getting someone to stand on the slam pannel and pull the bonnet (with the bolts almost tight) away from the bulkhead. Then finish tightening the bolts while they pull. Might give you that extra mill or two.
Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

Will try again this weekend, but i did pull the bonnet as far as the bolts permited. As for the old bonnet it went straight back on, i even can afford to drop it a bit?
Am suprised. But it's
Am suprised. But it's sounds like you've found a diffrence there. Do you have the hinges for the new bonnet? Possible they have more adjustment in them. Aulternativley (and this is a slight bodge) can you pack the original hinges out away from the bulkhead, to alow the bonnet to sit that few mill further forward?

Hats or Bonnets off
Possible misalignment of the front end of the vehicle due to previous accident damage or someone removing the bolt on panels, most likely is accident damage bending the hinges slightly.
Due to their bolt together construction, and many owners affinity with their vehicles, they will often have them repaired rather than written off.
Did the new bonnet come with hinges, if so were they used, or have you not got the hinges with your bonnet and used the originals. Bonnets come with adjustment shims, these are fitted to most bonnets between the bonnet and hinge, but not all. If it is more forward movement you require, slot the existing slots with a file to lengthen them, unbolt the front slam panel and pull forwards slightly, adjust the bonnet catch to suit.
This is often trial and error until it is correct, do not forget all the panels have a large degree of adjustment.
