Fourtrak TDX Transponder Ignition Key

Forum:

Can anyone advise if a new transponder key can be "generated" from the slave key as I have lost the master key (well the previous owner did!)

Or am I in for a hefty bill for new electronic bits in the car?

Of course if I loose or damage the current slave key - the world might just come to an end.

Many thanks.

Key copying

I personally would of thought there must be someone out there who would be able to copy from the slave key because nothing is impossible when comes to technology. However I don't know anywhere personally that can. However I am going to have to start looking soon as my mums Cuore has the master key missing and she only has the slave so need to get a copy of that!

Can you guys explain what the transponder key is(-for) Scratch one-s head

Transponder Key

Gilly, the ignition key in some models has a transponder chip embedded in the key and is tuned into the engine imobilizer. It has a passive electronic chip and is programmesd to match that particular ignition/management system.

However, if you loose ALL keys then the complete electronic wizardry has to be replaced and can cost anything from £200 - £1,000 depending on make and model of car.

take slave into a daihatsu dealer

they`ll be able to order a new main key from it - should be around £15 or so (thats what it cost for my mums peugeot 106)- you`ll have to wait a few days though

I havn't spoken to the Daihatsu dealer yet for fear of a heart attack when he tells me how much a master or slave key will cost, but it seems there are auto alarm specialists who might be able to duplicate the key only with the vehicle in their possession. (sounds sensible considering the likelihood of someone forging your key!)

The only problem is these guys seem to be miles away and not very local.

It may be that I will have to bite the bullet and drop in and see them.

Transponder Key

Yahoooo .... found a solution. The local lock smith shop has all of the equipment to copy the key and modify the chip.

Its a bit scary though, as anyone with a copy of my key can cut a spare!!!
