Does the fuel gauge follow

Does the fuel gauge follow suit? They share a power suply. Otherwise try taking the sender out of the engin and giving it a good clean. Check all conections you can locat for good contact.

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

gauge

Have you ever used some sort

Have you ever used some sort of pour into the radiator leak sealer. If so, it can coat the sender and give bad readings.

Take the 2 senders out- both are just below the thermostat housing, one is the temp gauge, one is for the glow plug circuit, and give them a good clean off.

thanks mate
seams to have done the trick, thanks to all who have given advice

Guage

Remove the wire from the sender unit and with the engine running, short it to a good earth and hold it there, look in the vehicle at the guage, it should climb rapidly to the hot position. If it does this it is the sender unit, replace it and all should be well.

guage
