I’ve recently bought a 1996 SPORTRAK with some work needed. I’m replacing the water pump as this is leaking and whilst I’m at it I’m changing the timing belt. I’ve stripped everything off and turned the crankshaft so the camshaft F mark is in line with the rocker cover indicator. However the crankshaft mark is slightly off by a few millimetres to the the indicator mark. So what do I do, leave it and fit the new belt, or do I need to rotate the crankshaft with the belt removed to align the marks? Or am I missing something.
