A startling improvement and at 1W, a fifth of the power of the replaced incandescent bulb! Save the world, change to LED sidelights.
These LEDs were recommended by jpor and give the best bang per buck you could ask for.

Those i got off Jpor are excellent, bright white and so far so good are working perfectly.
I tried quite a few and they always blew some of the LED's and flashed, all were Blue-ish and even failed MOT last time out.

I know its an old thread but
I know its an old thread but I came across it when I started looking into fitting LED side and tail/stop bulbs in my Sirion. Has anyone had any problems with MOT or police with LED bulbs? Looking at my sidelights I can clearly see the bulb and I'm concerned the LED sidelights may be too bright to get away with, tails I think are OK as the lens is more opaque. Any comments gladly received. Thanks, Andy.

I don't know the letter of the law
My take is that it is illegal to sell/use filament or LED rear stop/tail/fog/numberplate lights that give out more light than a filament light of the legal input power. Indicator lights may be similarly controlled.
Reversing lights are very intermittent so I can't imagine a problem with increasing their light output. Front parking lights are almost certainly less controversial. Although brighter than standard, my LED sidelights viewed in isolation are not staggeringly noticeable, eg by police or MoT tester (I hope). As an insurance I carry my old filament bulbs in the car anyway.

That is all pretty much what
That is all pretty much what I thought, I do the same with regard to bulbs, I have Philips Xtreme Power but I keep the old bulbs as spares in the car so I would do the same for any LED bulbs. My main concern was with the sidelights, from what I can remember of the YRV the lenses are quite opaque but on the Sirion the lenses are quite clear, anyone done this on a Sirion?
