Hi, My name is Matt, im 17, my budget is low(next to nothing) and i had just purchased a daihatsu rocky i need to tune it up and change the tires and i need to take the wheels off, but i don't know how to take off the center peice on the rims, for the tune up, i know i need to make a short on some harness to make the timing right... can anyone teel me where the harness is and how it looks like to make sure i dont blow something else. I need to know which wire to short to which wire and i would preffer to know the color codes of the wires so i dont make a mistake. i work in a pizza joint and next mo. i hopefully will have enough money to buy a manual, but till then im hoping to find someone that can help me fix my car up, thanx a million.

Before he does somthing baaadddd ! Laughing out loudLaughing out loudLaughing out loud

He is very confusing

From what I understand he seems to want to short some wires to remove the centre caps off the wheels.Shocked From my manual you use some little tool in the toolbag under the passenger seat to remove it. Not short the electrics and blow the thing up. Laughing out loud

Then again depends what country he is from, as don't seem like his english is too hot. Must be one of the southern american countries. Saw a Daihatsu Rocky on BBC News 24 last week in a report in Uruguay.

Anyway lets hope he comes back and clears things up before the flames and smell of burning rubber Eye-wink

According to his profile he's in Indo Hills. That's in Kansas rather than Uruguay Eye-wink

Ahem Eye-wink

Oh, and when tuning modern engines it is sometimes necessary to isolate some of the myriad electrical sensors by shorting them... but then, you knew that didn't you Sticking out tongue

Tune up / wheel caps

If your wheel centre caps are the same as on the UK models then they're held on by spring clips inside and should just pull off. They may require a bit of gentle persuasion with a lever but take care, they're actually plastic. As to the tuning up unless you've got access to the necessary diagnostic equipment I'd say it's a job for the shop. Good luck with finding a manual - over here you'd have to own the pizza joint to afford to buy a manual from a dealer Laughing out loud

Matt Use a large screwdriver

Matt
Use a large screwdriver to prise the centre caps off from the wheel rims. Careful, as mentioned, they are plastic, and can be a bit tough if they havent been off for a while.
Now, to the tune up, There is an electrical connector somewhere on the car that the diagnostics plug into. There is a way to connect two of these wires together, through a test light, to get the error codes. Code twelve is an erg valve problem. Have a look at www.warfs.com and you should find some info there on diagnostic codes, or you may need to check out some of the links from the warfs site. Remember, assuming you are in the United States, your Rocky is called a Sportrak in the United Kingdom, and a Feroza in Australia.
Good luck with the work.
And yes, Manuals are very expensive for Daihatsus, so save those pennies.
Cheers
