Forum:
HI All,
I've just got myself a second hand set of side steps, although I fear they are from the last of the earlier <'93 model Fourtrak (mines a 96/97)
The brackets seems not to fit the chassis correctly...the longer bracket for the front of the steps needs a bolt hole...do I need to drill the chassis for this? as I cannot seem to find a suitable hole towards the front of the chassis?
Or am I barking up the wrong tree and the ealier Fourtrack Chassis were different to the latter ones?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

We got "clamp" type one's
The set on one of my dads F78's "clamp" around the chassis rail. There are 2 "L" shaped brackets, one with a bar attached to that protrudes so the steps can be bolted to. This particular truck we have not had from new so I am not sure whether theses are daihatsu optional parts of an aftermarket fitment
thanks...
for that, I think it confirms that I have earlier ones in a way as they are not just the "u" clamp type...I have found a way of making them fit by drilling the longer brackets to bolt onto the 3 holes on the front outrigger that have nuts welded on the inside if them. just slightly annoying as I need to make sure I get heights and distances correct.
Side steps
Hi.
Been and loocked at my set, now removed and hanging in workshop. Off a '92 Fourtrak, the front bracket bolts to chassis in a line with edge of tyre, with a large circular spreader plate on the innner face of chassis, the rear bracket clamps around chassis, with a "T" shaped bracket, sandwich plate and bolts.

spot on...
Thanks Edward, that sounds exactly like the fittings I have (just that mines a U clamp on the back bracket)
It seems the F75 has the bolt hole towards the front of the chassis but the F78 doesn't. Luckily though it seems the lenghts of the brackets have not changed...I'll know for sure once I've had more time to try and fit them.
Thanks for the help guys!
