Hi all, just thought I'd leave some knowledge that I stumbled upon today. I recently bought a non running R reg 993cc hijet 6 seater minibus as spares for one that I was doing up. Engine turned over fine but would not fire up. Having used all the parts I needed and sold a few bits on ebay, I had someone ask me for the engine, so I had a tinker and did a bit of research on the internet including this website. Topics relating to NO SPARK seemed to point to ignition assembly but this was ok as I tried it on the 'doing up' van and it started first time. However when I researched the No Engine Management Light problem I came across I topic that suggested the electrical connector block located under the van near the battery box, as these suffer from corrosion. When I started on the process of removing the battery box, I began undoing the battery terminals but noticed corrosion around the electrical connection securing 2 black wires to the clamp bolt of the positive terminal. As soon as I touched it, the 2 black wires broke out of the connector. After making a repair, engine light come back on, on the dash, and engine fired up straight away. So, my advice is if your hijet turns after but wont fire and there is no spark from the ignition coil, check battery terminal wiring and electrical block underneath by the battery box. Just wish I had found out before I started breaking the van as I would have made a tidy profit on the resale, but at least I now have a 60k engine for sale. Regards, Pete.
