bypassing the heater matrix on a 1990 sportrak

Forum:

hey Ive found what seems to be a leak coming from the heater matrix on my sportrak. now i dont really want to go to all the trouble of replacing it at the moment, as Ive already replaced various belts and other parts. So my question is can i chop the two pipes a little and bypass the matrix for the time being, if I can would I have to replace all the pipework when i come to put a new matrix in later on, or just extend the existing pipes to their original length. . help MUCH appreciated guys! Biggrin

Simple: remove the two rubber

Simple: remove the two rubber hoses from the stubs of the heater matrix, looking under the bonnet you will see them on the bulkhead. Bridge the two tofether with a piece of scrap pipe of the same diameter, job done.

Bypass heater matrix

Simple, as "assassin" states just done this on a friends Volvo, as he was getting wet feet !!.

Yes but ..............

Yes but you will have no heater, no method to clear a misty screen and it will become illegal to drive with an iced up windscreen when the autumn arrives.
