I have a warning light on the dash of my 1997 Terios it is a red rectangle with two horizontal lines coming out of the sides and 4 verticle squiggly lines from the top the light remains on at start up and after 20 mins driving switches off. Does anyone known what this light is?

Also can someone explain how to check the transmission fluid should the car be running in P or switched off?
