fourtrak clutch pedal

Forum:

hi, i've got a fourtrak tdx 1996, the problem is that the clutch pedal has gone to the floor and wont disengage the clutch- the pedal doesnt spring back up by itself either for some reason! i dont think its the cable as ive checked that, has anyone had a problem like this before? or any ideas what it could be? any help is appreciated, cheers

Could be many things, begin

Could be many things, begin with checking the clutch cable, ensure it has not frayed and become stuck. Check the action of the clutch pedal, if the pin becomes worn its bushes can stick also.

Move under the vehicle and look for the actuating fork in the bellhousing, try to ensure this is not detached and sticking. Remove the gaitor from the actuating fork and it will allow you to see inside the bellhousing with a torch, you can see the clutch and thrust bearing.

Possibles are the thrust bearing penetrated the clutch fingers and become stuck, preventing them springing back. The thrust bearing is stuck on the gearbox input shaft, or the clutch is knackered.

thanks for the reply, sorted

thanks for the reply, sorted the problem out- a metal clip that holds the clutch cable in place at the bulkead (if that makes sense!) had broken off, im happy it wasnt the clutch because i didnt fancy spending hundreds to fix it!
