The heater matrix on my Sportrak recently went kaput. A replacement for what is basically a thin radiator comes in at an eyewatering

Always always go looking for second hand parts for old vehicles, ebay, scrappers, ask about, but they are costly to fit at a garage cos its time consuming to strip a dash out, but possible yourself.
Full of ideas but no time to do them!!

theres parts under the bonnet! that dont amount to that much. Id remove it and take it to a breakers and try and compare it to others... although that could be a lot of work. apparently the applause is the same engine, but wouldnt know if the similarities went that far?

Thanks everybody so much for the suggestions, and particularly Iftheresmud, for suggesting ebay. I got the part from 'Demisterman', brand new, 12 month guarantee for 1/4 of what the big dealers were asking (and i can return it if i''m not happy for full refund).

Get it re-cored.
Go to any motor rad repairers and they will make/re-core any radiator or matrix at a fraction of a new part. The result is as good as new. Use yellow pages - lots of repairers/restorers nationwide.
