'05 Sirion - advice please

Forum:

I've recently acquired an '05 ('New' shape) Sirion, my first Daihatsu, and am thinking of making a couple of modifications so I'd appreciate any help and advice please.

Firstly, the clutch pedal. It's set uncomfortably high for my taste and the length of travel is unnecessarily long. The workshop manual states that the pedal height is non-adjustable so I'd like to fit an adjustable pedal stop, which should be fairly straightforward, however, to gain access a section of the lower dash needs to be removed. The workshop manual is not hot on detail about this and my past record of removing and refitting such plastic trim panels is not good, usually resulting in some breakage, so does anyone have any tips?

Secondly, the engine oil filter. I'm not keen on the paper element type fitted and have read comments on the forum about what a palava it is to replace so I'd like to change to a screw-on canister type. The K3-VE engine in my car is common to several other Daihatsu and Toyota models, some of which, I believe, are fitted with screw-on filters. Can anyone suggest which model of car with K3-VE engine would be best suited and from which I can obtain a screw-on filter assembly, either as a new part or from a scrapped engine?
