gearbox seals

Forum:

i need my gearbox seals and thrust bearing replaceing is there anybody that knows where i can get this work done in the coventry rugby sort of area

The thrust bearing is simple,

The thrust bearing is simple, remove the gearbox/transfer case and slide it back, detatch the operating arm and slide the old bearing off. Slide a new on on and attach operating arm.

Which gearbox seals need replacing? if it is the propshaft oil seals they are easy.
Unbolt the inner end of the propshafts and move them to one side and hang them up, inside the drive flange is a 30mm nut, ondo and remove, the drive flange slides out as it is on splines. Lever the old oil seal out, and tap a new one in, keep it level and equal while tapping in.

Oil the outside of the removed drive flange and insert through the oil seal taking care not to damage the lip. Refit the 30mm nut and tighten, then refit the propshaft to the drive flange.

Take about 15 minutes to do the first one for the first time, once this is done it will be about 5 minutes for the second.
