Hopefully this will be my last problem post for a while..........but since you're all so helpful.
I have spent the last hour trawling through various posts regarding the YRV Turbo and I see many of you mention that they make all sorts of noises.
* I have noticed that from cold, the engine is a little rattly, perfect once warmed up.
*I have also noticed that when accelerating from cold, the engine/transmission is alot louder. Again, once warmed up it's fine.
*When cruising along at around 80, I notice a slight whine when applying the gas, it then disppears when taking my foot off of the gas, and I haven't noticed this at lower speeds.
Cars done 23k, clean oil, clean tranny fluid etc etc.
What sort of noises do you guys experience? OK, I am a new owner who is paranoid about every noise etc, but at the same time I would like to know more about the characteristics of these cars

On a serious note, I don't really get much sound, except that the Power Steering pump is a little on the noisy side, engine is a little rattly on cold tick over, but I'm using 5w-40 Fully synthetic ester oil. The only other noise I get is the sound of air whoosh from my Blitz stainless air-filter. And the sometimes louder than normal exhaust sound from the straight through exhaust system. Only other sounds is a rattly rear suspension from the AVO's I have fitted, but got used to hearing that now.
The whine you are getting, that could be the turbo and waste gate, but normally I have my Stereo system on so it's very rare I get to hear anything else. Sorry.

Same as you jon,wastegate and air filter noise which i love anyway,,turn stereo down in mine though,ha...and the usuall cold start ticking...I was like you wayne when first had mine worrying about strange noises but you do get used to them HONEST...
