Fourtrak Turbo Help?

Forum:

Hello. I have bought an engine from a 1993 TDX and I am going to fit it into my F70 van. I've never dealt with the Daihatsu turbo, or the damn vacuum 4wd transfer box(which has pipes and electrics going everywhere =/ )
I was wondering if anyone knew what this assembly is on the top of the turbo is? Its a pipe between the boost pipe and intake, with what looks like a one way valve with another pipe coming of that. I can't find where the pipe from the valve would go, so I am thinking on the chassis? I think it might be something to do with emissions, but don't know.
Heres a pic:

Cheers.

EGR

Its a valve that cuts out the turbo in first gear.there's a switch on the gearbox. The small pipe is connected to a braket on the body which then goes to the small pump on the back of the alternator. You dont really need the valve.

All torque no tr-action

Ok thanks. I can chuck the

Ok thanks. I can chuck the valve, but can I also lose the pipe, or does it have to stay for the turbo to function?
