Castrol Magnatec Fully Sythetic 5w30 vs Castrol Edge Fully Synthetic 5w30

Forum:

Trying to decide on an oil for my YRV Turbo, want to feed it Fully Sythetic and noticed Magnatec Fully Synthetic 5w30 for

Tried a few myself but not the ones you have mentioned...

Hi Wayne,

Not sure what to suggest here. I personally keep with the the 6 months service intervals on my car and buy my oils from opieoils.co.uk

Have tried the following:

Fuchs Pro-Sycolene fully synthetic Ester based oil @ 5w-40 which was good and didn't make the car too sluggish as well as being an oil which kept the engine quiet enough.

And the latest now being the following which I have noticed I have an increased MPG by having an extra 15 miles to a tank of fuel Smile ;

Motul 300v 5w-30 Fully Synthetic Double Ester Race oil. Not cheap, but can be bought in 2 litre tins. So bought 2 tins (4 litres) and have a little left for top ups. Wink

If you are only doing 3K service intervals then the cheaper of the 2 should be good enough. Have a look on Opieoils.co.uk to see if anyone has given it a good review.

Jon.
