Indicators not working!

Forum:

Hi all,

Just posted on here for the first time and managed to delete the post before saving..! D'oh..

Anyway...my wife and I have loved owning ou 1996 Fourtrak 2.8 for tyhe last 4 years which has run faultlessly in that time.
On my way to a job this morning the indicators decided to pack up. All other electrics seem to be fine. Windows, wipers, lights etc all working as are the hazards.

I have the service manual on disk that I downloaded from this site a few years ago but my laptops driver has packed up!

I wondered if anyone in the know could give me a few ideas of where I should concentrate looking...I have checked every fuse and these are all ok, my concern is that it might be the wiring loom.

I'd appreciate any comments or suggestions.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards

Stuart

as the hazards ae still

as the hazards ae still working it points to the indicater switch... try cleaning the contacts... sray wd40 in arround the switch... see if you can slide a piece of fine sandpaper gently between the contacts

I wouldn't use wd40 i have

I wouldn't use wd40 i have just had problems with my switch contacts, i sprayed wd40 without much joy, reason being it leaves an oily film on contacts, which is not what you want.
I then bought proper contact spray (comma, from local car shop) and they worked, i couldn't believe the difference!

good luck

It could be one of two

It could be one of two things, iether the switch or the flasher relay.

Switch on the hazard warning lights, if these work it is the switch or its wiring.

If they do not work then it is the relay itself.
