I HAVE JUST PURCHASED A FOURTRAK INDEPENDENT TDX 1994 can anyone tell me if the independent is an oddball or do most of the other fourtraks use the same running gear i want to purchase a workshop manual but it appears you cant get 1 for an f78

The indy's were hardly rare, earlier models used leaf springs and solid axles front and rear, but were a little uncomfortable. Modern rivals were improving their vehicles ride quality, Diahatsu did the same and introduced the independent.

This uses coil springs and independent front suspension, a solid axle is fitted to the rear, but not the front. This is fitted with the diff assy and very short stubs, these have a driving flange which connects to driveshafts. In many ways they are similar to front wheel drive cars.

Mechanically they are the basically all the same, over the years the engines were modified slightly for emissions purposes, nothing more.
