Panhard rod

Forum:

Hi!

Not sure if this subject has been covered before, sorry if I'm repeating stuff!

My F73 has a 2 inch suspension lift (bloodred springs) but you can see that the panhard rod is pulling the rear axle to one side.
Is it best to cut and sleeve the panhard rod (and by how much?)or is the better option to lower the chassis mount by a couple of inches?

Hope this makes sense!?

If you lift the suspension

If you lift the suspension you move the mounting points further apart, this causes the axle to move to one side.

The preferred method is to sleeve the rod with a threaded portion and use a threaded rod with the eye welded to it. This allows the length to be altered to suit the lift and align the axle properly to the vehicle.

Surly a splines panard rod

Surly a splines panard rod would negat the rods intended use? The splin would just alow the axle to move side to side as if no Panard where there? Or did you mean use splines to set length then weld solid? But if thats the case then just a tube over the original rod would work? I think I would go for lowering the chassis mount by 2"

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

Panhard Rod

Hi
sorry to hear your having issues with your car, due to the inherant design of the panhard rod system any lift will create some sideways movement but 2" shouldn't be an issue. If you are unhappy with the way your car is then ideally, if you can, the best results will come from lowering the chassis mount by 2" to restore the original angle of the panhard rod. Please feel free to ring me and I will do my best to help to resolve this issue
best regards
