YRV Turbo Seal Kit

Forum:

Hi, I just got myself a brake set removed from a YRV Turbo. I have plans to service the calipers with new seals for the piston unfortunately without much information found on the part number. I am looking at the seal kit with the other rubbers on the caliper.

It would be lovely if I can get some help here.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Hi and welcome to the forum. I don't have a part number for you but I'm sure a certain member on here will assist you when he sees this post. Have you tried a dealer? As you may or may not know these brakes are prone to seizing causing excess corrosion on the inside of the discs which can cause MOT failiure. I am due to do mine soon, although my discs and pads are new I doubt the calipers got properly lubed up. A few on here recommend Mintex Ceratec Silicone Grease which I will be using this time round. Never use Copper Grease on the slide pins. I used to until I learnt its an anti sieze compound NOT a lubricant as such. I used red rubber grease last time which is what Daihatsu recommend.................

Tell us a little about your car, there isn't that many Turbo owners on here, a handful of us live in cheshire/lancs what about yourself? I see your username is gearbox, has you box given you trouble lol?

Thanks!

Thanks Wayne, I felt the warmness in this forum already Smile

I am from the Far East indeed, Malaysia is the country actually. We do not have many YRV Turbo here, mainly modified version from our local produced vehicle Perodua Myvi. Enthusiastic Myvi owners with more demanding G-force will tend to convert their engines to YRV Turbo specification with approval from the local authorities. Unfortunately my days of acceleration on the pedal has past to find more on the brakes which the Turbos fits the bill. No modifications are required to put in the disc and calipers, I have to admit I love the brakes.

I did as told to seek help from the dealers but the closest I can find is located in Singapore, they have more imported Daihatsu's from Japan. The part number given by the dealer is 04478-B2080, comes with all the parts "DaihatsuDave" has listed. Initially I got the wrong seal kit, 04479-97201 packed with a metal ring assuming they are for non-turbo. I am glad I found this forum, I nevertheless agree it has the most answers or information around on Daihatsus Wink

Thanks guys, appreciate all the help that I got. I need to return the kit for the correct part. Happy driving..

Cheers.

04478-B2080 is correct. It superceeds the part number i gave....just a right click of my mouse would have revealed that Blush
B2080 is listed for the L881 Copen, L276 Cuore and the M300 Sirions.
Those metal rings you mention are to hold the piston boot seal in place.
