Batteries

Forum:

Recently had problems with Varta Batteries on my YRV F Speed, 2 new ones in three years, both failed. No leakage found. Garage then supplied me with a used 3 year old ex Sirion battery, top up type, and this has worked superbly allowing non use of the car for up to 10 days in snow and frosty conditions.
Has anyone had Varta problems?

My Varta Asia has been fine

My Varta Asia has been fine apart from a only do short trips and charged it up a few times when the power indicator has shown Black.

Think they would benefit from being fully charged before fitting....the shelf charge is probably around 60-70%. Using any old charger wont do a maintenance free batts much good neither...cooks them.
I would contact Varta UK and tell them your problem and that many a club member uses them....they may give you a new prototype to try Wink

Varta 40 blue are also good

Yeah I swapped my Varta Asia recently to a Varta blue. but noticed on my volt metre if after a day the voltage drops to 12.2v and even 11.8v when turning on the iginition. but the cranking amps are good and even turns the engine over in the minus temps we have had of late. I take it the Varta battery you had was a A14 type?
