Forum:
Hi all!
Thought I would introduce myself as have just signed up as a member today. Reason for signing up is that as of Sunday, I will be the proud owner of a Fourtrak.
It is a 2000-reg Fieldman TDL (LWB) with 156k miles and it is to be my horsey runaround, ferrying feed, shavings, hay around in the back and towing my horse and trailer around. We're buying it from a farmer and it currently very much looks like a farm car (I thought I could make cars dirty inside and out, but he's exceeded my best efforts by far! ), so the first plan of action will be a lot of TLC to get it cleaned up (inside and out) and get to know it before seeing what needs done.
Some numpty who had it before Mr Farmer had attached a turbo scoop to the bonnet?! Mr Farmer has removed it but still some bolts to file down and it's left a real mess of the paintwork on the bonnet to try and sort. Husband wants to just paint bonnet a contrasting colour as he thinks a white respray of it will look odd against the rest... I'm not convinced about this idea at the moment, we'll see...
We also know that the dash light for 4WD is kaput but 4WD works, so this should be an easy fix. It seems to have lots of wee patches of surface rust, but nothing major so we have a supply of Hammerite to treat these once cleaned up and sanded off. Also picked up oil/filter to do an oil change. Farmer has done oil changes regularly since owning it, so he's at least looked after the important bits!
This site looks like it has a lot of useful information, so thanks in advance to all those who's posts I'll learn from! Some before/after pics will be required I think, so will try post some at a later date once "project tidy up" has begun.
Roll on Sunday!
