Greetings all,
I have a 1993 Applause Xi manual with 250,000 kms. It is one owner and in good order and I am trying to keep it that way.
Anyone know how to change the dash? Mine is cracked from the sun. I am sure I can get a used one quite cheap and being an ex mechanic reckon to change it myself. Also reckon to change or flush the heater radiator at the same time.
I am ex pat who left UK at age 28 after working as a youth for a racing car garage and racing karts myself.
I now live in Israel and Daihatsu has been very popular here. When the Applause finished they continued selling Sirion and Terios in big quantities.

Its similar to the Charade so
Its similar to the Charade so there should be a few bolts behind some plastic covers where the dash meets the screen. For the rest you will just have to look about on the underside and sides.
Remove the steering wheel, speedo head, the front console and unplug any wiring to switches or devices etc. Label your wires so you know where they came from...alot of the plugs look the same. Think you have to unscrew the heater select panel and leave it trailing behind as you lift the dash away. Maybe the odd screw hiding behind the ashtray etc?
Also might be a small metal strut in the underneath centre thats holding the dash up?
Tip for removing the steering wheel - slacken nut a few turns, wiggle wheel backwards and forwards until loose off the splines, then remove nut...otherwise bust nose
