Forum:
Hi I'm in New Zealand and I own a 2000 YRV Turbo which I use a promotional vehicle for my business.
I want to fit a blow off valve to turn some heads except no off the shelf kits are available here.
My two options are to import a kit - any thoughts on something suitable?
Or to buy one of these... http://www.redlineperformance.co.nz/?action=products&part=23283
... a standard HKS SUPER SQV 2 for $230 NZ or 105 GBP.
The only problem with the standard HKS bov is that it needs a custom adapter...
Anyone have a guide to fit a bov to a YRV?
Thanks
could still be generic, but its got all the bits...
Something like this?

Cheers, that's pretty pricey
Cheers, that's pretty pricey - looks like I might be heading down the custom route unless anyone has any other thoughts?
custom
Yep... definitely expensive.
If you get a good quality standard one, they all do pretty much the same thing. Is this the type of sound/setup you are looking for?

BLITZ do a kit for the YRV
BLITZ do a kit for the YRV TURBO,have a look at there web site, but cant remember if its a BOV or a DUMP VALVE..I was going to buy one but with the HKS SUPER POWERFLOW filter and the waste gate it sounds pretty good anyway so saved my money
Simply removed the small pipe
Simply removed the small pipe from the rear of the air intake pipe as I accidently did once - the original valve is MUCH louder! Actually DON'T, it may do damage lol...........still it sounded good

How did you mount the BOV?
Hi Steve,
Like the idea of getting a universal HKS bov but struggling to see how I'd mount it? What have you done on your car?
The only adapters I can find are these...

I'm a bit confused as I have seen pictures and video of HKS bovs which look like they have been mounted with a special adapter...

You mentioned silicon hose were you thinking something like this... http://www.turbohoses.com/bov_silicone_hoses_lg.jpg
Yeah that's the style I'm
Yeah that's the style I'm going for, I've just got to think outside the square to mount one I think - I've just put some questions to Steve below...
If you are just after a noise...
I have a Blitz Stainless fitted fitted to my Turbo and when you lift off the Gas it basically makes the same noise as a BOV. A BOV will only give you noise and no performance I'm afraid. Same as my filter
