Sirion 1.0 2006 suspect head gasket?

Forum:

Hi all,
Since I have had this Sirion it has had an appetite for oil. It is the KRVengine (same as Aygo).
Today it read half on the dipstick, prompting a refill. Then I see a horror in the oil filler cap, a light wash of cream inside! Oil seems clean (not creamy, but clean oil) I changed oil in summer and the pain of job genuine oil filter: no probs then, no water. Water expansion tank has dirty looking water in it-more grey than brown.
Never had a temp light (no guage in this car) on. Owned since July 2009.
Any help appreciated! It has done 62,000miles.
Regards,
Charles

Head gasket may well be shot;

Head gasket may well be shot; oil getting into the water or it might be loosing oil/burning oil and your coolant is just very dirty! Oil under the filler cap DOES NOT always mean a failing head gasket, it can often be condensation caused by the engine not warming up fully due to short journeys/stuck open thermostat etc etc. A decent garage will be able to do a diagnosis ssniff test etc to determine what's going on. How does the car run?

Head gasket

Hi Wayne,
Thanks for reassurance. Car runs well, I do a lot of city type driving, stop start etc. Cold light goes off after about 1 mile, never any hot smells (you know what I mean,toasting glycol?)Car is very responsive, never miss a beat.
But I will get a pressure test done and change the water. (not done since I bought it in 2009.)
Cheers,
Charles
