Tailgate rust -Sirion Rally2

Forum:

Has anyone had bad rust just below rear number plate on Sirion 02/05.

When I bought it 2 years ago the previous owner had stuck two badges (small go-faster ones!)on that area, seemingly to cover underlying rust,- however these badges have made matters worse and the rusting area has spread badly underneath the number plate.

Called Chips Away who did a superb repaint in the area without a whole panel respray (thus saving the Rally2 logo),also repaired a nasty mark(badly touched-in) on passenger near side in a similar way.

Total cost £144 (incl.vat) -this is half bodyshop costs who couldn't effect repair without a full panel respray and would have lost logo!

I intend to keep Rally2 for at least another year and have had my first expense in two years (other than MOTs, both passed, and a couple of tyres) - new exhaust on Friday .

Body work generally very good so why change (mechanicals will go on for ever)!!!

Anyone else had rust there?

Shame you didn't come to the meet...

Then we could have compared this rust is/was on your car.

Will have a look out for this happening on my YRV Turbo.
