oops!

Forum:

Don't know what I did (other than leaving the fan on when I left the vehicle for 4 hours!) but the battery showed not a lot of charge. Connected battery to a mate's car, but no real sign of greater charge - and engine wouldn't even turn over on jump leads. But, there's a funny clicking noise from one of the fuses in the engine compartement when the ignition is turned on. Is this clicking normal? Does it sound like the starter motor has gone?

Help please.

It's the starter relay clicki

It's the starter relay clicking, and there is not enough power to crank the engine. I'd also say your jump leads are not making enough proper contact.

Charge the battery or run it down a hill.

Thanks m8 - I had a horrible feeling that more £'s were running away from me!
I've got the battery back home and charging. Will give it a go tomorrow.

Battery jump-leads

If using jump-leads connect positive lead [+ battery onto + battery] but connect the negative lead [- battery onto your engine block]. Direct battery conections will damage the battery's internal plates.

If battery is charged and relay continues to 'click', your starter is sticking or dead.
