Want sidelights ON with ignition!!

Forum:

Hi all, I have a '58 reg TERIOS and I would really like the sidelights to be ON at all times. I could fit DRL's at front, but I believe the REAR sidelights are equally as important.
So, I want them all to come on automatically.
Any ideas????

As it is a legal requirment

As it is a legal requirment in some countries to have side lights on all the time you may find (by means of a multi meter) than an empty fuse space does exactly this if the missing fuse is put in. Otherwise it would be a case of running a wire from the position two ignition, to the side light circuit (after the light switch). Very easy on an old style (no computers) type set up. However (and I have no knowlage of how the wiering in a Terious works) changing anything on a computer managed system will almost sertainly couse the system to throw a paddy and refuse to work, unless you have the magic laptop to tell it whats what...

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

You will find it is illegal

You will find it is illegal to drive on sidelights, it must be dipped headlights or nothing. Many Police forces are out en-masse searching for illegal vehicles now the nicer weather is here.

The only legal way round this is to retro fit the new LED type driving lights modern cars have.

We have this every year, Police look for everyone, its amazing how many are prosecuted. The main one being driving with front foglights on. Most prosecutions are lighting related.
