Swapping the engine

Forum:

I have a Daihatsu YRV Turbo automatic 2004. The car has been damaged at the front and I want to get a Daihatsu YRV 4WD manual and to swap the engines. Does anybody know whether the engine from the first car will work with the manual gear box and the crankshaft on the second car? Please help with advices!

Many thanks.

Well the flywheel/clutch and

Well the flywheel/clutch and manual gearbox should bolt up, Cant imagine the K3-VE and K3-VET being any different on the crankshaft holes.

But some things to consider:

You will also need to swap the complete engine wiring loom including ECU.

Another potential problem, The reason why Daihatsu didn't fit the KE-VET with a manual gearbox was because the manual gearbox already avalable and used on the K3-VE and K3-VE2 is not really strong enough to cope with the 30-40% extra torque of the K3-VET.

It will work, But for how long before the gearbox starts to moan is impossible to say.

Using a high quality synthetic heavy duty gearbox oil will certainly help out.

Also clutch will be right on

Also clutch will be right on it's limit of torque holding, It may slip.

Although the clutch cover can be uprated for a bit more clamp quite easily.
