My Fourtrak has started to buff out smoke particularly after a period of free running for example, descending a hill then accelerating out. Can anyone help with any suggestions as to the possible problem? Also which oil should I be using 10-40 or 10-30 or something else?
Oil burn
Obviously oil burn due to worn piston rings or worn valves. Use an oil additive to eliminate the oil burn. You could use a thicker motor oil but be prepared for a reduction in your mpg especially when the motor is cold.
If your motor is diesel then make certain it is filled with oil for diesels and not oil for petrol vehicles. Diesel motor oil must be used in diesel motors.
